Friday Night Movie Night

After last weeks movie that wasn't so great, I wanted to share something much more exciting, and most importantly with more visual appeal. I eventually settled on Beyond the Valley of The Dolls, because Russ Meyer never disappoints, and it was written by Roger Ebert. For those of you not familiar with Russ Meyer - I do need to say he basically makes soft porn. The first film of his I saw was at the Astor a few years back, and aside from a cluster of giggling young adults such as myself in the middle seats, the outer and back rows were occupied by rather questionable looking middle-aged and elderly men. Preeetttyyy hilarious but also creepy to say the least.

So Beyond the Valley of the Dolls bears no relation to Valley of The Dolls from a few years earlier, but what they do share is an absolute visual treat. Story-lines aside I could easily have screenshot every single scene. So much colour and so much amazing vintage! I highly recommend this for anyone with an interest in late 60's early 70's fashion, just be warned there are lots of boobs! This film is so much fun, it's cheesy and hilarious and really fast paced, and totally makes me want to redecorate my house.
