The chair that grew!

Wow, I love stumbling upon random things that amaze me.
Almost 100 years ago John Krubsack made this amazing chair by growing, grafting and shaping Box Elder trees  together.
All the joints in the chair were naturally formed. He achieved this by bending the stems,  tying and grafting them together as they grew.
He began growing the chair in 1903 and harvested it in 1911.
On further investigation into tree shaping I found the work of Axel Erlandson. Axel took tree shaping to a whole new level and opened The Tree Circus in 1947.
I would love to attempt tree shaping, but I think I would quickly grow impatient.
